Project 1 Surreal Collage Deadline Wednesday, February 10

The Concept: Using Images from at least four multiple sources, create a surrealist digital collage that expresses the disorienting quality of a dream.

The purpose: To practice working with Layers and to develop your imagination.

·       Look at the examples.

·       Scan elements or find images online.

·       Keep the elements on independent layers

·       Work with the stacking order of the layers

·       Use the scaling and rotating transformations to compose the composition of the elements. 

·       Experiment with blend modes and the opacity slider.

·       Think outside the Box. Embrace the absurd

·       Specifications:

·       7.5” x 10” x 300ppi RGB

·       Save as a PSD. Submit a jpg to the drive.


Naming Conventions
Submit the requested modules with the assigned project on or before the due date.
The modules and the project should be in the same folder labeled: DAR221 P1 (or whatever the project number is) your name. The project is named, 221.P1 your name.psd. The modules are named 221.M1, M2, etc  your name.psd. Please observe these naming conventions.

Submitting Files
Drag the Project folder to the 221 Drop Folder  and insert it in the appropriate project folder.

Virtual Class
Owing to the precautions taken to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus throughout the
country, the Pima College Administration has decided that DAR221 is will be presented as a
fully online (virtual) class. We will not be meeting in person and you will be performing your
work at home or in one of the computer labs on the West campus. We will have regularly
scheduled Zoom Meeting classes on Wednesdays at 5:45 -8:00PM. You will receive an
invitation on D2L announcements and on the DAR221 Blog. The classes will be recorded so
that you can review them at any time but you are required to attend the live online class
unless you notify me that you will not be attending. Please pay close attention to submission
deadlines and specifications and check the blog frequently for updates. All of files for the
modules, quizzes and exams are online in the DAR221 Drive. You will source images for the
creative projects elsewhere. You may e-mail me at any time at sromaniello@pima.edu if you
have questions. You can also set up a phone or zoom appointment.
