Project 5 Animated GIF due May 11
Create and Animated Gif in Photoshop. Use Layers to create a sequence of frames and the Timeline to animate them into a video. Save the sequence as a GIF. The animation will exist in an environment. You may use existing video clips with graphic filters applied or you can produce a simple frame animation as demonstrated in class.

Project 4: Photo Restoration and Colorization, Due Wednesday April 28 (Note Change)
The Concept: Repair and Colorize a photograph
The Purpose: To learn photo retouching, color correction and colorization techniques.

1. Choose a black and white photograph that is in need of restoration. Scan the image so that the finished size will is 8X10 
inches @ 300ppi (depending on the proportion of the image.
2. Duplicate the image so that you are not retouching the original. Name the Background Layer "Original"
3. Retouch the image using the various filters and retouching techniques to eliminate scratches and dust and other flaws.
4. Use Adjustment layers enhance the overall tonality the image. Clip the adjustment layers to the original. Place the duplicate original file and the adjustment layers in a group. Name the group “Retouched”.
5. Duplicate the retouched Layer Group name it "Colorized 1"
6. Using Adjustment layers, colorize the images realistically.
7. Duplicate the group. Name it Colorize 2. Using the same adjustment layers create a different colorized version, using a different color scheme.
8. Composite all versions to one image: the original scan, the black and white retouched version, and the two colorized versions to one document as demonstrated in class.
9. Concentrate on good color relationships. Avoid making the image appear garish, splotchy or unfinished. Make accurate selections. Make sure adjacent colors are seamless.
10. Save the full sized version of the document with the four images as a psd. Make a copy of the document and reduce the size so that all images fit on an 8.5x11 page. Save as a high quality JPG document and submit the digital file to the drop folder.

I encourage you to use  use your own photo for this project if you have one.(Restored family photos make great presents). If you use your own photos be sure and show them to me first so we can discuss the best way to scan them. If you don't have a photo you can access photos at:  Retouch and Colorize
